What are your career highlights? We were blessed to live and work in Java and Bali in the 90s. We learned about living in beautiful cultures, nature, community and family. We didn’t believe we’d have children until the Balinese helped us think otherwise… thankfully.
It completely changed our thinking about designing spas and inspired us beyond words.
What major innovations can you identify? There have been so many, thank goodness! Integrating indoor/outdoor spa experiences (learned in Bali and Thailand) has been key. And we’re starting to see communal bathing models making a comeback – clients thought we were nuts when we suggested these 10 years ago!
What do you wish had been invented? Biosuit: an organic material for bathing that disintegrates after four hours. It would save laundry costs, be functional but also amusing and look fantastic. Issue: spontaneous nudity may occur after those four hours!
