Tornado to hit Gold Coast’s Wet’n’Wild
POSTED 23 Aug 2006 . BY
Wet’n’Wild Water World on Australia’s Gold Coast is set to unveil the final attraction in its new Extreme H20 Zone thrill ride area in September, the Tornado.

Riders will begin their journey from a 15m-high platform before sliding down a 40m-long tunnel in a four-person clover-leaf tube, into the middle of a storm.

Extreme H20 Zone opened in January this year, located behind the park’s Calypso Beach area, and initially featured five over-size thrill rides – including the park’s two longest open air slides and three high-speed body slides – branded as Mach V.

Mach V was followed in March by the opening Blackhole, featuring two completely enclosed slides where the rider is in complete darkness until they hit the final splashdown.

Steve Peet, Wet’n’Wild’s chief operating officer, said: “The new Tornado slide is thought to be the most exciting waterslide in the world.

“Opening this giant new slide, along with Blackhole and Mach V, means that Wet’n’Wild Water World can now boast to be the biggest and best waterpark in Australia, with an increase in land size of 30 per cent and a 50 per cent increase in the park’s capacity.”

H20 Zone is part of an AUS$20m (US$16m, £8.5m, 12.5m euro) investment in Wet’n’Wild Water World by owner, Warner Village Theme Parks, which also saw the opening of the Buccaneer Bay kid’s zone last September. Details: www.wetnwild.com.au
