Australia has welcomed the introduction of its first major new waterpark since 1991, following the opening of the long-awaited Wet’n’Wild attraction in Sydney.
The park includes two leading attractions created by specialists WhiteWater, with the new facility seeking to attract around one million visitors each year.
The site features a world-first Whizzard Twist attraction, which takes eight mat-racer aquatubes and winds them around each other, propelling riders into a race to reach the ride’s finish line. This is accompanied by an AquaLoops attraction offering riders the chance to experience a side-by-side ride.
The park also features another complex by WhiteWater, which includes rides such as Australia’s first Rattler ride named the Typhoon and four MasterBlaster experiences.
Other leading attractions at the facility include the 360Rush, which is based six-stories into the air and gives swimmers the chance to race each other in two 360 degree-looping waterslides.
Wet’n’Wild’s T5 ride sees swimmers take on 180m (591ft) of darkness as they head towards a drop of 15m (49ft) into the attraction’s core, while the Tropical Cyclone sees riders reach speeds of over 30km (19m) per hour.
For non-swimmers, the park also plays host to the Sydney SkyCoaster, which hoists riders 75m (246ft) into the air, before plummeting them face-first towards the ground.
