New Dior spa carriage opens aboard Belmond’s luxury Royal Scotsman train

Royal Scotsman, A Belmond Train, Scotland has announced a long-term partnership with Dior Beauty to create a new Dior spa carriage.

In homage to Christian Dior’s love for Scotland – where he famously hosted an acclaimed fashion show in 1955 – the new Dior Spa Royal Scotsman features two lacquered treatment rooms, restyled with Dior’s iconic burgundy toile de Jouy motif.

Equipped by Gharieni, the wellness space has been designed to offer guests a tranquil space to unwind and rejuvenate as the train makes its way through Scotland's majestic peaks and dramatic valleys.

The spa wellbeing menu features three treatments devised by Dior’s wellness specialists:

• The Dior Spa’s body massage – called D-Travel (30 or 60 minutes) – is designed to purify the body of toxins and release tension through deep, slow and soothing movements that help relieve muscular pain.

• Inspired by the Scottish landscape, the D-Elements full body treatment (60 minutes) draws on the country's natural beauty to prompt mental and physical relaxation in guests. The treatment begins with the application of semi-precious hot stones on the back, followed by massage strokes that simulate a cooling breeze. Bain Dior body mist and hot oshibori that recreate the country’s drifting mists end the treatment on a calming note.

• For those seeking a facial, the D-Highlands (60 minutes) is inspired by Japanese Kobido facial massage techniques and incorporates the Dior Prestige line to sculpt facial features and improve the skin’s appearance.

Belmond says the Dior Spa Royal Scotsman provides guests with the ultimate beauty experience to complement its rail excursion’s outdoor wellness activities – such as wild swimming, hiking and farm-to-table dining.

The tie-up follows a previous partnership between the two LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton)-owned brands, where a branded Dior pop-up spa opened in the gardens of Belmond’s Portofino retreat, offering outdoor spa rituals crafted by the fashion house.

Belmond created its first spa carriage in 2017 in partnership with luxury skincare and spa brand Bamford.

Although originally a fashion house, Dior has expanded into the world of spa and beauty in recent years and now encompasses two branded spas, a skincare line, a makeup collection and a perfume range.

Dior spas can be found at the premium La Samaritaine hotel (check out Spa Business’ first-person review here) and The Dior Spa, Hôtel Plaza Athénée – both located in Paris – as well as a treatment space at luxury London department store Harrods.

In other news, Dior also recently announced a new partnership with The BeautyHealth Company – the parent company of Hydrafacial – to develop a Dior powered by Hydrafacial experience.
