Dior's flagship spa in Paris has been refreshed with new treatment spaces, relaxation areas, a gym and a suite of exclusive treatments
Updates include a Dior Light Suite features an LED-studded ceiling that mimics the natural light produced by the sun
The spa menu has been updated with a raft of new treatment options, including rituals designed exclusively for The Dior Spa Plaza Athénée
The Dorchester Collection’s Parisian outpost, Hôtel Plaza Athénée, has refreshed its Dior spa with new facilities and exclusive wellness programming.

Complete with five single treatment rooms, a couple’s treatment room, a sauna and a hammam, The Dior Spa Plaza Athénée launched in 2008 and is the luxury brand’s flagship spa. All treatment rooms are equipped by RKF Luxury Linen.

New therapies
Following the refresh, the Gharieni-equipped spa is home to Dior’s first specialised light treatment room inspired by the path of the sun.

The new Dior Light Suite features an LED-studded ceiling that mimics the natural light produced by the sun, with three levels of intensity available: energising, relaxing and regenerating. According to Dior, the technology provides guests with the ideal daily amount of sunlight to help realign their biological clocks, alleviate stress and restore energy.

The room is equipped to offer three exclusive, tailormade treatments using different light intensities:

• The Recharge ritual is designed to awaken both body and mind, harmonising guests’ biological clock and emotions. It starts with the gentle glow of dawn, gradually intensifying into the brilliance of the midday sun, all while bathed in the soothing blue of the sky as the body reawakens.

• The Recover experience is designed to envelop guests into the luminosity of the day, culminating in a warm amber twilight that is said to aid recovery and a restful night's sleep. Promising deep relaxation, it combines a soothing massage, a restorative nap phase and invigorating techniques.

• The Rest treatment invites guests to unwind as the sun sets in the evening. Serving as a decompression chamber before bedtime, this ritual alternates between sensory stimulation through light and soothing massages to alleviate muscular tension, interspersed with moments of relaxation to reduce physical and mental stress.

All three rituals last 105 minutes and cost €450 each (US$478, £391).

Guests who have booked any other 90-minute facial and/or body treatment can also request to have their treatment conducted in the specialist suite and upgrade their journey with light therapy.

New facilities
The urban retreat has also been updated with a relaxation area for guests to unwind pre- and post-treatments. The space provides access to fruit and vegetable juices, a selection of herbal teas, dietary supplements and Dior Wellness accessories.

Adjacent to this, a new Fitness Studio – partnered with Gymate – provides a dedicated space for physical and mental fitness. Guests can explore a range of activities including running, yoga, Pilates and meditation.

Refreshing the spa menu
In addition to the light therapy treatments, the spa menu has been expanded with new rituals designed exclusively for the Dior spa.

Called Le Soin Dior Privé Sur-Demande, the first treatment is available as either a facial or body protocol according to guests’ preference. Both options include electrostimulation and/or cryotherapy.

During the 90-minute facial (€550, £390, US$476), therapists work to smooth, plump, lift and resculpt the skin.

The 120-minute body treatment (€700, £607, US$741), meanwhile, targets the organs involved in detoxification. To extend this purification process, a choreographed series of movements is used to de-puff and revitalise the skin.

Dior has completed the spa menu overhaul with four three-hour rituals created for the body, face and mind, including:
• Dior D-Tox Therapy, face and body – 225 minutes (€1,000, £870, US$1,060).
• Dior D-Stress Therapy, face and body – 210 minutes (€750, £795, US$652).
• Dior D-Vibe Therapy (specific price and duration TBC).
• Dior D-Fit Therapy (specific price and duration TBC).

Dior expands its spa footprint
Although originally a fashion house, the LVMH-owned Dior brand has expanded into the world of spa and beauty in recent years and now encompasses three branded spas, a skincare line, a makeup collection and a perfume range.

As well as the Dior Spa Plaza Athénée, additional Dior spas can be found in Morocco and France – including the premium La Samaritaine hotel (check out Spa Business’ first person review here) and Dior Spa Eden-Roc.

Dior also has a branded treatment space at luxury London department store Harrods and recently launched its own Dior Spa carriage aboard Belmond's Royal Scotsman train.
