POSTED 29 Aug 2019 . BY Andy Knaggs
Guests at Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser get a two-night immersive experience
Disney has unveiled new details for its hotly-anticipated Star Wars hotel at Disney World in Florida, revealing plans to host guests for two nights in a fully-immersive experience that takes them on a journey into the franchise's universe.

Called Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, guests will arrive and depart from the hotel at the same time, having embarked upon on an immersive experience that allows them to become heroes in their own Star Wars story.

During the experience, visitors will be offered the chance to take part in a number of activities, including lightsaber training, learning how to operate starcruiser systems, making an excursion to Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu, and enjoying ever-changing vistas from their cabin window as they 'travel' through the galaxy.

Guests enter the 'starcruiser' ‒ called The Halcyon ‒ through a Launch Pod that shows them leaving the real world and jumping into hyperspace through windows above. When the Launch Pod docks at the Halcyon and the airlock opens, visitors enter into the main deck Atrium, which is where the story, which will interweave with members of the crew, other passengers and familiar characters from the movie franchise, begins. Included as part of the experience is an excursion to Disney's new themed land, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

During the reveal of the experience at D23, Ann Morrow Johnson, executive producer and creative director of Walt Disney Imagineering, said that the choices made by guests during the immersive hotel experience could actually have an impact on the "story" of their stay.
