Huis Ten Bosch's Kingdom of the Robot given summer launch date
POSTED 22 Feb 2016 . BY Tom Anstey
Service robots play a big part of the new attraction, with the humanoid technology operating hotels, restaurants and some attractions
Dutch-inspired theme park Huis Ten Bosch has announced that its new robot-themed land will launch in Q3 of this year.

The attraction in Nagasaki, Japan, has been touted as the country’s first “robot complex”. Called Kingdom of the Robot, the new attraction will show how, in the future, robots will play an active role in people's everyday lives.

Dubbed the 6th “kingdom” within the theme park, the multi-million dollar investment will include a restaurant with robot chefs and staff, a robot museum, robot dance show and controllable fighting robots. There will also be multiple examples of what emerging robotic technology can, and will, do for society, with many interactive elements throughout.

In addition to the debut of its new attractions, the park’s Henna Hotel, which launched in July last year and is also entirely operated by robots, will expand with 72 new bedrooms being added, doubling capacity.

A one-night stay in the hotel costs ¥7,000 (US$59, €52, £39) for a single room, while a double room costs ¥9,000 (US$77, €67, £50). When the hotel is near capacity, guests bid for the price they are willing to pay to stay, with the highest bid winning the room up to a pay cap of ¥14,000 (US$119, €105, £78).

The hotel expansion opens on 15 March, while advanced previews for the park will be held between 29 April and 5 May, with a summer launch for the general public.
