Medi-spa regulatory update to be hosted by American Med Spa Association

The American Med Spa Association (AmSpa) is co-hosting a regulatory programme for the states of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania in partnership with the law firm Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman and Dicker.

The one-day programme, on 20 September, is expected to provide up-to-date information on the region’s laser and medical spa regulations, insight from medi-spa owners and information on how to market and brand medi-spas.

One particular feature of the event will be a roundtable of medi-spa owners titled “The Secrets of My Success”, which will allow attendees to hear from successful medi-spa and laser centre owners. Physicians, medi-spa owners/ directors and nurses will be welcome at this discussion, which will include a business and marketing segment in addition to a parallel session for management staff.

“We are thrilled to be hosting this event with our partners at Wilson Elser,” said Alex Thiersch, founder and director of AmSpa. “These industry-focused educational events are genuinely needed, both to educate professionals on the legal landscape and to share tips on how to be successful.”

Non-medical staff require more training than some of the medical staff performing the procedures, according to a statement by AmSpa, because these people are seen as “the face of the medi-spa.” The lack of staff training is a major issue in the medi-spa industry according to the association, therefore there is a segment of the day-long programme dedicated to teaching front desk staff, aestheticians, laser techs and cosmetologists how to increase a spa’s patient base, how to up-sell products and procedures, as well as how to market to increase revenues.

“We’ve created the most dynamic programme available for medical spas,” said Gina Meyer-Schaffer, AmSpa’s director of marketing. “Attendees will hear from some of the most successful medi-spa owners around on how they built their practice from the ground up.”

A two-hour networking reception will take place after the event, allowing industry professionals to meet and brain storm with presenters and exhibitors.
