Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) has announced that Manor Farm Animal Centre at East Leake, Nottinghamshire, has become the area's first licensed zoo.
The attraction boasts a collection of farm livestock; a macaw parrot; a tortoise; llamas; guinea pigs; rabbits; and donkeys, as well as a number of rescued owls.
RBC said its licensing service had been able to issue the animal centre with a zoo licence after a year of research, DEFRA inspections and other hurdles.
