Plans for the multi-million pound expansion of Bristol International Airport (BIA) have been given the green light by planning officials at North Somerset Council.
The scheme has been approved subject to a total of 70 conditions and the signing of a legal agreement, which is designed to secure a number of financial contributions from the airport.
BIA's plans will now have to be referred to the government for final approval due to the impact of the development on Green Belt land, although a public inquiry could still be ordered.
The scheme includes expanding the terminal building by 6,700sq m (72,118sq ft) to the east and 3,600sq m (38,750sq ft) to the west in order to double the available floor area.
New walkways, bridges and car parks are also included as part of BIA's plans.
