In a bid to attract more European visitors, the Northumbria Tourist Board has launched an overseas package tour that is priced in euros, to make planning a trip to Britain easier.
The Travelling Britain 2002 campaign will offer European visitors deals including ferry travel and accommodation in hotels across Sunderland, County Durham, Northumberland and the Tees Valley.
'Events over the past 12 months have made it more important then ever to raise the profile of our region, both at home and abroad. With the euro now the primary currency across much of Europe, it makes absolute business sense for us to offer packages priced accordingly,' said Richard Spencer, head of marketing at Northumbria Tourist Board.
The campaign will be operated in association with P&O North Sea Ferries and an overseas travel agent.
Alongside this marketing campaign, the Northumbria Tourist Board will also be attending a series of tourism trade exhibitions across the continent to further raise the region's profile.
