The winners of the Visit London Awards 2006 were announced on 23 November at the Roundhouse in Camden, London.
The Large Hotel of the Year award was won by the London Hilton on Park Lane for continual investment in new products, such as its POP Champagne bar and refurbished Galvin at Windows restaurant, while The Zetter claimed Small Hotel of the Year for its quirkiness and environmental merit.
The Large Visitor Attraction of the Year was given to the National Portrait Gallery, while the Fan Museum in Greenwich claimed The Small Visitor Attraction title for its dedicated staff and community links.
Hostel of the Year was taken by Globetrotter Inn for its range of facilities and Business Venue of the Year went to ExCeL.
The Cultural Event of the Year award was claimed by the Sultan’s Elephant which paraded through central London in May.
Visit London’s CEO James Bidwell said: “The awards are becoming more and more sought after and influential. The event is a fitting celebration of the capital’s top tourism businesses.”
