Weymouth and Portland Borough Council’s Environment and Conservation Committee has approved the draft masterplan of the £100m pavilion and ferry terminal development in Weymouth for public consultation.
Local residents are being invited to examine the plans, which will be exhibited at the Weymouth Arts Centre, and give their feedback to the council.
Geoff Petherick, chair of the committee, said: “Last night (17 October), the committee approved that the masterplan will go forward for public consultation. I assure the public, however, that it is not a fait accompli and that we value the views of local residents.
“Following the period of consultation there will be an analysis of the comments received. It is proposed that a further special meeting of the committee is held on 18 December.”
The project includes plans for a four-star hotel, a 900-seat theatre and a world heritage visitor centre as well as a 250-berth marina.
The exhibition will last four weeks from 21 October. Details: www.weymouth.gov.uk
