Kenco's continued commitment to ethical sourcing and sustainability
POSTED 07 Jan 2010 . BY Sarah Todd
From January 2010, Kenco’s entire range of freeze-dried coffees are to be sourced from beans grown on Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms.

In 2009, Kenco’s parent company Kraft Foods moved to a minimum of 75 per cent of beans from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms across its Kenco freeze-dried coffee, with a promise of a further increase in content during 2010.

Kenco’s sales director Ashley Neal said: “We are all really excited to be offering product with increased certified bean content. Our latest offering delivers great quality and real added value for operators, distributors and consumers. Everyone in the supply chain can feel they are doing their bit.”

This latest move means that all the beans sourced for Kenco's Roast and Ground Core, Kenco Singles filter coffee and Kenco Freeze-Dried coffee are now sourced from beans grown on Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms.

Kenco’s parent company, Kraft Foods, continues to show a strong commitment to focusing on both sustainability and ethical sourcing across its brand portfolio – 100 per cent of the cocoa sourced for Kraft’s Suchard Hot Chocolate is from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms and at least 50 per cent of PG tips tea is sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms.

Kraft Foods began work with the Rainforest Alliance in 2003. Founded in 1987, the independent, environmental organisation promotes standards for sustainability that conserve wildlife and ensure the well being of workers and their communities.

The Rainforest Alliance Certified™ programme assures consumers that the products they are buying come from farms that meet demanding standards for environmental, economic and social improvements. For further information, visit rainforest-alliance.org
