Jamberoo theme park in New South Wales, Australia, has opened a AUS$4m (£1.7m, US$3m, 2.5m euro) new wave pool called Outback Bay.
The 2.5 mega-litre pool boasts waves up to 1.5m (4.9ft) high onto a sandy beach complete with a lighthouse and Fishermans’ Wharf, which features a fish and chip shop alongside a surf store.
Catering for up to 2,000 people, Outback Bay is aimed at novice and experienced surfers alike while the breaks have been designed to allow surfers to practice their body surfing skills in the best possible conditions.
Outback Bay and Fisherman’s Wharf are the latest additions to a range of existing attractions at the 22-hectare Jamberoo park including Billabong Beach, Rapid River, Surf Hill, Splash Out, bobsled tracks and Le Mans racing cars. Details: www.jamberoo.net
