A £200m (E300.5m, US$364.5m) redevelopment scheme for the Gloucester Quays in the UK is to be called in by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for a local public enquiry.
The site of the mixed-used development contains many 19th and 20th century industrial storage buildings and consultation has already been sought from the City Council, County Council, English Heritage and the South West Regional Development Agency. Chief executive of the Gloucester Heritage Urban Regeneration Company, Chris Oldershaw, said: “This is a setback but it is not entirely unexpected.
“This is a massive, 60-acre scheme and the government office will naturally want to ensure that every aspect of its local and regional impact is fully explored.” Details: www.gloucesterquays.co.uk
