Heritage is for everybody, and we are here for heritage.

Heritage lives in places and people, memories and stories, artefacts and traditions. It can connect us all to the past, and to each other. It can make us happier, strengthen every community, and help shape society for the better. Everybody should be able to enjoy the benefits it brings.

That's why, as a charity, we care for over a million objects and hundreds of historic sites in every part of England, from international icons to local treasures. And it's why we open them up, share their stories and find new ways for everybody to enjoy, learn, play and create.

We are looking for a National Event Planning and Logistics Officer to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent role, working 36 hours a week.

We offer flexible working arrangements where the role allows. Based in the South Midlands in either one of our offices or as a homeworker, this national role will require you to travel across the country to assist with event delivery, attend meetings at our regional and site-based office locations, and occasionally visit our event equipment storage facilities located in Rugby and at Wrest Park in Bedfordshire.

The Benefits

• Salary from £30,190 - £32,636, depending on skills, experience and location

• 25 days' holiday plus Bank Holidays pro rata, rising to 28 days after 3 years

• Matched pension contributions up to a maximum of 10%

• Flexible hours

• The opportunity to progress your career within the heritage sector

• Apprenticeship opportunities

• Subscriptions to professional bodies

• Free access to all English Heritage sites for you and up to six friends and family members

• 25% discount in our shops and cafes

• Enhanced maternity, paternity or shared parental leave

• Options to buy additional leave

• An inclusive working atmosphere where everybody is supported from all backgrounds, religions and with different needs

• Opportunities to go to some of our great live music or history events

As part of the National Events and Venue Hire Team, you will provide operational expertise to support the effective delivery of a large-scale, high-quality programme of events across multiple historic sites.

Working in close partnership with your colleagues in Events and Venue Hire, as well as Site and Procurement Teams, you will organise suppliers, equipment and logistics so events run smoothly, protect the historic setting, and meet our standards and values.

You will also help create and deliver clear, consistent ways of working to ensure events are delivered efficiently and responsibly across our sites.

To be considered as a National Event Planning and Logistics Officer, you'll need:

• Experience in event operations and multi-site delivery, with strong logistical planning skills

• The ability to translate creative ideas into practical, deliverable solutions
• Knowledge of procurement, supplier management, and contract delivery
• Strong budget management and financial planning capability
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and resources
• Confidence coordinating equipment, storage, transport, and asset management
• The ability to develop systems, processes, and continuous improvement
• Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills
• A commitment to safety, sustainability, and protecting sensitive environments

In-person interviews will be held on 13/14 July at either Wrest Park or Kenilworth Castle, TBC. There may be a long listing Teams conversation prior to in-person interviews being held.

If you would like to talk to us, e.g. about workplace adjustments or working patterns, please contact Beth Stone, Head of Visitor Experience and Engagement. No agencies, please.
