Polin has successfully installed a Racer Twin Turbolance waterslide in time for Aqualand Maspalomas’ new season. It is the first of its kind in Spain, and one of the biggest waterslides in Europe, according to the Turkish manufacturer.
The ride features two circular, racing tube slides, in which two people per tube race down a path before reaching an enclosure that suddenly plummets them down a nearly vertical drop. The double-tubes then diverge into two separate Turbolance slides and propel the riders vertically uphill. A reverse path continues the ride backward over a hill, into a valley and ending in a dry-out.
Polin has also used its Natural Light Effects technology on the ride – as water sluices through the ride, it interacts with sunlight that shines through translucent stripes at the top of the slide's tunnels. These natural effects take different forms depending on the strength and angle of sunlight throughout the day.
The half-closed/half-open waterslide is manufactured with resin transfer molding technology, offering a smooth and shiny finish on both sides.
Aqualand Maspalomas is located at the resort city of Las Palmas in Gran Canaria, and is part of the Aspro Group-owned Aqualand waterpark chain.
