Wildwood Kent's award winning woodland discovery park has taken another step towards becoming carbon zero by taking delivery of an electric quad bike for use around the site.
The bike, a Geo Toro from Geo Vehicles of Italy, is replacing an elderly petrol version which was due for replacement and will be used by both keepers and rangers to transport equipment, food and other items around the 40 acres of woodland.
The new quad - which apart from being 'green' is both quiet and easy to operate - will be charged using the park's photovoltaic cells and - when it is erected - by a 20KW wind turbine.
Wildwood's Wildlife Conservation Park, between Herne Bay and Canterbury, offers its members and visitors a way of learning about the natural history of Britain by actually seeing the wildlife that once lived here, such as the wolf, beaver, red squirrel, wild boar and others.
