The Essex County Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange, New Jersey, has installed a Chance Morgan 36ft Endangered Wildlife Carrousel.
The new attraction is part of the zoo’s Carousel Park and Picnic Area which opened to the public in early May this year.
The carrousel’s 33 animal line-up includes the Giant Panda, African Elephant, Leopard, Okapi, Alligator, Coyote, Lowland Gorilla, Eagle, Mountain Lion, Zebra, Tiger, Sea Otter, Frog, Ostrich, White Rhino, Dolphin, Polar Bear and Red Panda.
It also features a wheelchair accessible Swan Chariot.
Housed in a circular building with doors on all sides to allow year-round use, the carrousel will be operating extended opening hours meaning it will be open in the evening after the zoo closes.
Further south in the US, Chance C.P. Huntington #356 opened to the public in mid-May at the Birmingham Zoo in Birmingham, Alabama.
The train, called the 'Red Diamond Express', was bought and donated by Red Diamond Coffee & Tea and features four coaches and African-theming.
The zoo has operated a train for more than 50 years and - according to spokesperson Katrina Cade - has given close to 2 million rides to zoo members and visitors over that time.
