The National Centre for Citizenship and the Law – Galleries of Justice in Nottingham, UK, has unveiled two new attractions, ‘Narrow Marsh: A Victorian Adventure for Children’ and ‘HM Prison Service Collection Displays’.
The former is a child-sized recreation of a courtyard in a Victorian slum, including an organ-grinder, privy, three shops and a small house. Visitors can experience life in era through interactive activities, drama and role play.
The second new attraction gives visitors an insight into criminals and prison officers over the past 300 years, through artefacts gathered from across the country relating to prison labour, religion, escape, riot, identity and execution. The collection is displayed in actual cells of the centre’s 1833 prison wing.
