Sydney Wildlife World opens in Darling Harbour
POSTED 01 Oct 2006 . BY
Australia’s newest attraction was unveiled last month when the doors of the new AUS$52m (US$39m, £21m, 31m euro) Sydney Wildlife World opened to the public in Darling Harbour.

Located adjacent to Sydney Aquarium and owned and operated by the aquarium’s owner, Sydney Attractions Group, the new 7,000sq m (75,000sq ft) facility will boast around 1km of walkways around a showcase of Australia’s unique flora and fauna.

A spokesperson for Sydney Wildlife World said: “Australia has more than its share of bizarre and unique animals and plants and with so many different environments, plants and animals to represent, Sydney Wildlife World has developed a linking storyline to keep a consistent feel to the journey.

“Key themes such as conservation, aboriginal/dreamtime, diversity of wildlife and scientific concepts of adaptation are woven into the storyline throughout the attraction, examining the past, present and future and giving visitors the sense of being in another world.”

Designed jointly by Misho + Associates and RIHS Architects, the attraction is split into nine different sections including butterflies, invertebrates, reptiles, birds, nocturnal animals, semi-arid grasslands, rainforest, wallabies and wombats and koalas. Details: www.sydneywildlifeworld.com.au
