ProFun to manage Cairo family park
POSTED 02 Dec 2009 . BY Martin Nash
ProFun Management Group, a California-based attractions management group, has been selected by The Heliopolis Association of Egypt to operate the new Suzanne Mubarak Family Park currently under construction south of Cairo, Egypt.

The new 28 hectare park is being overseen by Egypt's first lady, Suzanne Mubarak, and is said to be the first of its kind in the world created to offer an 'edutainment' experience through learning, fun and participatory activities in a family entertainment theme park garden setting.

Planned to open in mid-2010, it is part of a new residential and business community called "new Cairo" which includes residential living, retail, dining, school and business centres.

Park experiences are designed appeal to both children and adults. On offer will be a variety of learning activities and workshops as well as rides; live shows; attractions, including the country's largest open air aviary and a state of the art 3D theatre; merchandise; and food, the latter ranging from fun food take away to sit down family and adult themed and fine dining restaurants.

Group functions, including school learning outings, birthday parties, meetings, exhibitions and special events, will be planned throughout the park for both day and evening use year round.

Mike Patrick will be managing the park's on-site day to day pre-opening tasks, as well as staffing and operations requirements. His background includes executive and operating experience with Anheuser Busch - Busch Gardens and Sea World - as well as being COO for the Orlando, Florida, Science Center and running his own leisure management consulting group.

ProFun Management Group is a privately held US corporation formed in 1999 and currently operates projects that include uShaka Marine World in Durban, South Africa and Ferrari World Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
