After five years’ construction, German hotel management company Oetker Collection has unveiled its first Swiss hotel named The Woodward in the heart of Geneva, complete with views of Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva.

Owned by Bastion Holdings group, The Woodward joins Oetker's portfolio of iconic locations including Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, Le Bristol in Paris and The Lanesborough in London.

Located in a historic post-Haussmann style building built in 1901, the 26-suite hotel upholds Oetker’s commitment to wellbeing and is home to the exclusive Club Woodward featuring a 1,200sq m Guerlain Spa, 24-hour Technogym gym and a 21m indoor swimming pool – claimed to be the largest private pool in the city.

The private club is spread across two floors and is reserved for The Woodward’s clients and just 90 private members. Its opening marks the launch of Guerlain’s debut Swiss spa.

"We’re delighted to welcome guests to the spa's hushed atmosphere, access to which will be reserved for a handful of members, ensuring its exclusivity,” says Julie Chaumie, Club Woodward manager.

“A day of relaxation begins with entry to the Tea House by Guerlain, where clients will start their experience with an attentive and personalised treatment by one of our Beauty Experts.”

The spa includes two saunas, two hammams, two Swedish baths, a snow shower, ice bucket shower, Jacuzzi, retail area and six wellness rooms, including a double suite, all of which are equipped with Gharieni treatment beds.

Offering a wide selection of Guerlain treatments and two exclusive rituals devised for The Woodward, the spa is designed as an oasis dedicated to relaxation designed in the elegant style of the famous Guerlain name.

Annual membership to Club Woodward costs CHF 7,500 (€6,896, £5,873, US$8,123) per person and includes:

  • 10 per cent off spa treatments and products in the Guerlain Spa boutique

  • One 60-minute treatment of members’ choice

  • 45 minutes of physical condition testing and personal training

  • Two spa guest passes for family or friends

  • Access to the indoor swimming pool, the gym and all other facilities

  • Priority booking for classes and sports activities

  • A designated locker

  • Free parking and valet

  • One Afternoon Tea for two at the hotel’s restaurant Le Jardinier

  • Sportswear laundering upon request

  • Welcome gifts.

The Woodward was borne after a renovation of the existing building – formerly a hotel and bank – by architectural firm Pierre-Yves Rochon with spacious apartment-style suites in a refined, contemporary style.

The sophisticated design is enhanced by unique decorative elements, including Lalique door handles, marble fireplaces, handcrafted wallpaper, wood marquetry sliding doors and elegant bookcases.

Rochon commented: “The Woodward is more than just a five-star hotel. It’s been made to feel like a spectacular lake house, with all the familiar comforts of an intimate mansion. No detail has been overlooked.

"The interiors display an ambience that is both traditional and modern, honouring the Genevan heritage of the building while bringing it into the present day.”

The hotel offering is complete with two gourmet restaurants – Le Jardinier and L’Atelier Robuchon.
