GLL opens £900,000 Better Gym Stratford at former Olympic Village
POSTED 20 Jan 2016 . BY Jak Phillips
The fitness facility features 130 Technogym stations
GLL has unveiled its brand new £900,000 Better Gym in Stratford, east London, on the site of the 2012 Games Olympic Village.

Located in the heart of East Village in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the new health club just a javelin’s throw from Westfields Shopping Centre and Stratford International Station.

The space above the local Sainsbury’s store has been transformed into a 10,000sq ft (929sq m) health club by leisure design and build specialist Createability. The fitness facility features 130 Technogym stations, a functional training area with an XCube functional frame and a free weights zone with dumbbells up to 40kg, squat racks, bench presses, a lifting platform and Technogym Pure Strength plate loaded machines.

In addition, the gym features a 2,000sq ft (186sq m) studio offering a range of classes including cardio, aerobics, dance, HIIT, strength, calm, indoor cycling and circuits.

“This is the third GLL Better Gym that we have helped to create following a successful 20 year working relationship with GLL,” said Ian Cotgrave, managing director of Createability.

“The location, intuitive design and layout of the new Better Gym Stratford provides the local community with a low-cost fitness offering and will most certainly – in-line with the previous two gyms in Sidcup and Romford – prove exceptionally successful.”
