A new Dune Raiders themed slide attraction has been installed at Legoland California, US, by Prime Play by Whitewater.
"We were given the task to come up with an attraction that would have a minimum of 500 riders per
hour, highly themed, and a modernization of the traditional wave slides that have been created in the past," said Nathan Jones, Director of Sales for Prime Play.
"The challenge with this type of
slide is to make a thrilling attraction for the rider while remaining a safe and controlled experience.
"We
accomplished this by creating a brand new set of moulds that would safely guide the riders down the slide
while maintaining their lane and have them come to a safe stop by the end of the ride."
"Dune Raiders is getting great response from guests and it's not unusual to see
riders get right back in line again," added Chris Romero, director of maintenance for Legoland California.
"I think the positive response comes from such a great overall guest experience within the attraction; the
guests can choose to slide down one of six lanes on magic carpet-themed mats or down two double-helix
corkscrews and can interact with Lego models all themed to be a part of an ancient middle eastern bazaar."
