Businesses not giving holiday pay to seasonal and casual workers could face court action.
The Working Time Regulations were amended late last year to grant holiday pay entitlement from the first day of employment and not after 13 weeks, as had previously been the case.
The tourism industry will be particularly affected as casual staff are often used to cope with the summer influx of visitors. Seasonal staff who traditionally work in hotels, cafes, bars, tourist and resort attractions during the three peak summer months, could be entitled to up to five days' holiday pay.
