The Detroit Science Center is to remain closed "until further notice", having originally shut on a temporary basis from 26 September as a result of ongoing funding concerns.
It had been anticipated that the attraction would reopen to visitors on 12 October in an effort to control expenditure; preserve operating cash; and to review its operations.
However, a spokesperson for the attraction has confirmed that the closure has been extended and it is not yet known when Detroit Science Center will reopen.
The Detroit Children's Museum, which had also shut, has reopened.
