Bulgari touches down in Tokyo with urban wellness haven inside towering skyscraper

Luxury hospitality brand Bulgari Hotels & Resorts has made its Japanese debut with a new urban hotel and spa in Tokyo's Yaesu district of Chūō.

Occupying the top five levels of the 45-floor Tokyo Midtown Yaesu skyscraper, the plush Bulgari Hotel Tokyo overlooks the iconic Imperial Palace and offers far-reaching views of the city, including Mount Fuji on the horizon.

The 98-key hotel has launched with a 1,000sq m Bulgari Spa on the 40th floor, complete with striking panoramic views of the city. The urban spa is home to nine treatment rooms – including a spa suite and two double treatment rooms – and an indoor bathing area with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Guests can enjoy a selection of spa treatments supplied by premium science-led beauty brand Augustinus Bader, as well as grooming services for both men and women and thermal and bathing experiences.

In addition, a state-of-the-art fitness centre offers Workshop Gymnasium's signature bespoke training method.

Bulgari Hotel Tokyo is the eighth property in the LVMH-owned Bulgari Hotels & Resorts collection – the hospitality branch of high-end Rome-based jewellery house Bulgari, established in 1884. The destination joins a portfolio of existing destinations in Milan, Bali, London, Beijing, Dubai, Shanghai and Paris.

Upcoming properties are due to open in Rome (2023), Maldives and Miami (2025) and Los Angeles (2026).

Bulgari Group CEO Jean-Christophe Babin said: “We’re delighted to announce the opening of the Bulgari Hotel in Tokyo. Japan is a strategic market for us where the Bulgari brand has already been present for 30 years.

“It’s an honour for us to once again bring the best of Italian design, lifestyle, culture and luxury hospitality to Tokyo to create a welcome addition and irresistible experience in the upscale Japanese hotel market.”

Additional facilities at Bulgari Hotel Tokyo include two restaurants, a Bulgari Dolci boutique for desserts and sweet treats, two ballrooms for events, a lounge and a signature Bulgari Bar on the 45th floor with an outdoor terrace garden.

Weather permitting, Bulgari says the terrace offers an incredible view of the snow-capped Mount Fuji, which also inspired the "Mount Fuji" vintage brooch in gold and mother of pearl. Created in 1972 by Bulgari, the brooch was designed to celebrate the jewellery brand’s long-lasting connection with the country and has now become a recurring symbol of the Hotel.

Interiors and design details
Like all other Bulgari hotels and resorts, Bulgari Hotel Tokyo's interior design was entrusted to the Italian architecture and interior design practice ACPV Architects Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel.

The firm's task was to translate Bulgari's core values of contemporary design, magnificent craftsmanship and artistic detail to create efficient living spaces reflecting the essence of the Italian most sophisticated style.

According to the brand, all interiors have been created with the same attention to detail and precision as a Bulgari jewel, enhancing all the characteristic codes of the establishments developed by the brand.
