Aussie World, a theme park on Australia’s Gold Coast, is set to open Funny Bone Flicks next month – a cinema showing a 25-minute screening of old television commercials and Australian newsreel footage.
Opening on 10 December, Funny Bone Flicks is housed in the 160sq m (1,700sq ft) Town Hall, which formerly held a reptile display, but has lain empty for the past two years.
The Aussie World trade and design team has raised the roof by two metres (6.5ft) and used recycled timber for the flooring and walls.
Customised lighting and multimedia equipment have been installed so the space can also be used as a meeting room.
Aussie World was launched 15 years ago and now covers 58 acres with a further 12 acres currently being developed. It boasts more than 30 rides and attractions and welcomes 500,000 visitors a year. Details: www.aussieworld.com.au
