| Gravity Group has designed a wooden coaster for Fun Spot America's Kissimmee, Florida, theme park |
|
Gravity Group is working on a US$6m wooden coaster for the Fun Spot America theme park in Kissimmee, Florida, set to open in summer 2017.
Unusually for a wooden coaster, the new ride will boast a 36-degree roll inversion as well as a top speed of 49mph (79kph), 2,256-feet (688-metre) track length and an 80-foot (24-metre) drop.
“This is huge news, not just for us but the city of Kissimmee as this will be the only wooden roller coaster in the southeast United States that will feature a 360-degree barrel roll,” said John Arie Jr, Fun Spot America’s CEO. “This rollercoaster will be completely unique and thrilling. We have worked tirelessly with the Gravity Group to design a must-ride coaster for any thrill seeker and coaster enthusiast – definitely ‘bucket-list worthy’.”
The ride name, theming and other details are still in development process, and Arie added that 50 construction jobs will be created to build the ride, and 20 new full-time positions at the family-owned Fun Spot once it opens.
Earlier this year, Fun Spot America announced a 10-year masterplan to expand its sister theme park in Orlando.
