Vekoma Rides has created a rollercoaster which travels both over and under the water.
The Orkanen, which opened in Farup in June, is a custom designed suspended family coaster and is the largest new ride at the Danish theme park.
Orkanen takes riders to a height of 20m (65ft) and then, at a speed of 75km/h, speeds them 5m (16ft) below the water, into a tunnel. They’re then taken through a 120-degrees banked horseshoe, followed by horizontal loops and S-curves, all at high speed.
Vekoma is currently working on 10 other installations during 2013 and for 2014, including Vekoma’s Splash Party rollercoaster, which is operating as Bandit Bomber for Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi.
