A new, multi-million pound visitor attraction, called Shakespearience, opened to the public on 3 December at the Waterside Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire.
Billed as a multi-sensory experience and split into two acts, the new attraction covers two floors and uses technology and special effects to show the life and legacy of William Shakespeare.
Act 1 tells the visual story of Shakespeare’s early life in Stratford and is set in locations such as his birthplace and the church. It demonstrates how, four centuries later, Shakespeare’s works still hold relevance today.
The second act is set in a recreated Eilzabethan playhouse, with an actor on stage guided through the highlights of some of the bard’s most famous scenes from plays such as Romeo and Juliet, The Taming of the Shrew, The Merchant of Venice, Henry V, Macbeth, Hamlet and The Tempest by the ethereal voice of Shakespeare.
Shows will run every half hour and the venue will be open seven days a week throughout the year. Details: www.shakespearience.co.uk
