Blue Anchor prepares for deregulation and brings Las Vegas to Lincolnshire
POSTED 28 Jan 2004 . BY
Fantasy Island, which announced last month it will be opening two new rides – The Eye on the Coast ferris wheel and Absolutely Insane reveese bungee ride – has said the attractions are just part of a £15m redevelopment scheme.

Blue Anchor Leisure, owner of the themed resort, is to revamp the Carousel amusement arcade at the Ingoldmells site and extend it to create a Las Vegas-style arcade in the first step towards preparing the site for the proposed changes in gaming legislation and the introduction of casinos at British seaside resorts.

New attractions for children will also be introduced including elephant, bee and mini-Jumbo B747’s.

“The times was right for us to take a look at how we go forward with Fantasy Island,” said Blue Anchor chair, John Woodward. “This will be our tenth season and we need to plan for the next decade.

“The introduction of Absolutely Insane is not just another ride – it allows the rider to have control – and the big wheel will allow visitors to view the Lincolnshire coast from a different perspective.”

Blue Anchor also plans to invest in its Robin Hood Leisure Park at Chapel St Leonard’s with the £800,000 rebranding of the Maid Marion Club as Club Tropicana.

Enhanced staging facilities and dressing rooms are planned to allow ‘Las Vegas quality production shows’ to be staged.

“The redevelopment of Club Tropicana allows us to provide people with spectacular shows with comfortable table seating,” said Woodward. “We will gradually extend the season at Club Tropicana with the view to opening all year round.”

A new pub is also to be built on the park – to be called The Maid Marion Inn.

The Magical World of Fantasy Island and the new-look Club Tropicana will both open on 28 February.
