Healing Earth opens first vinotherapy spa at South African vineyard estate
POSTED 23 Dec 2020 . BY Megan Whitby
The spa will offer four Healing Earth signature experiences harnessing the grape’s seeds, skins and stems for skincare
The Leeu Spa at Leeu Estates, Leeu Collection’s flagship property, has re-opened under the management of South African spa and wellbeing brand Healing Earth.

Reflecting its beautiful location in the South African Cape Winelands, Healing Earth is using its collection of vinotherapy Pinotage facial and body care products at Leeu Spa.

Established by industry figure Elisabeth Brandt, Healing Earth offers high-quality products, therapies and spa concepts designed to nurture both the body and soul by harnessing the restorative powers of Africa’s rich natural resources, such as minerals, flowers, herbs or natural oils.

According to Healing Earth, it pioneered the use of the South African Pinotage grape in its products, building on the widely researched and highly-acclaimed therapeutic benefits of vinotherapy.

The spa will offer four Healing Earth signature experiences harnessing the grape’s seeds, skins and stems for skincare and their ability to guard against free radicals and the elements, while leveraging powerful anti-ageing effects.

A highlight will include the half-day 'I Heard it Through the Grapevine' immersive vinotherapy package, which lasts three and a half hours, costing ZAR2980 ( £152, €166, US$202).

The journey begins with a Pinotage body polish followed by a one-hour, full-body massage with one of Healing Earth's home-grown Pinotage oils to tailor the treatment according to personal needs.

Then comes a therapeutic Pinotage facial using naturally repairing and restoring Cape botanicals, vitamins, omegas, extremely efficient peptides and the powerful polyphenols of the Pinotage grape, tailored to suit each individual’s skin type, before the transformative journey ends with a signature grape hand and footprint ceremony.

Other treatment options include a couples treatment and a 120-minute vinotherapy celebration treatment which has been inspired by Leeu Estates’ unique location.

Leeu Estates
The five-star Leeu Estates is a boutique hotel set amid herb gardens, orchards and vineyards in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley.

Leeu Collection comprises three five-star boutique properties in South Africa (Leeu Estates, in the Franschhoek valley; Leeu House, a 12-room hotel in the heart of Franschhoek village; and Le Quartier Français, hotel with two independent villas) and Linthwaite House, a historic property in the UK’s Lake District.

Another Leeu property is due to open in Florence in 2021.
