Good Spa Guide names best UK spas
POSTED 14 Nov 2018 . BY Lauren Heath-Jones
London's Lanesborough Club & Spa was named Best Spa in London

Our winners are to be congratulated for their high spa standards and great customer service. In a busy hectic world, a trip to a spa has become necessary for many people who want to take care of their health or simply relax and unwind
– Daphne Metland, founder and director of the Good Spa Guide
Winners of this year's Good Spa Guide Awards were announced last night (13 November) at a gala dinner at the SpaLife Conference in Birmingham, UK.

The awards, designed to recognise excellence in the UK spa industry, include two categories: The Regional Awards and the Reader's Choice National Awards, with nine winners selected in each.

Winners of the national awards were voted for by more than 60,000 spa-goers, while the regional winners were handpicked by specially-selected 'Spa Spies', who reviewed more than 200 spas and treatments to find the best in the UK.

London's Lanesborough Club & Spa was named Best Spa in London, while The Spa in Gleneagles was once again named Best Spa in Scotland. ESPA at Lucknam Park in Wiltshire took home Best Spa in the South West and South Wales, and Lancashire's The Woodland Spa was named Best Spa in the North West and Wales.

Other regional winners included:

Best Spa in the East Midlands and East: Aqua Sana Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire.

Best Spa in the North East: Rudding Park Spa, North Yorkshire.

Best Spa in the South East: Pennyhill Park, Surrey.

Best Spa in the Channel Islands: St Pierre Park Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, Guernsey.

Best Spa in the West Midlands: Dormy House Hotel, Worcestershire.

Other awards included Best Spa for Wellness, Best Boutique Spa and Best Newcomer.

The national awards saw Serenity Spa at Seaham Hall in County Durham named as Best for Customer Service, while The Garage Spa, also in County Durham, was crowned Best Boutique Spa. The Spa at The Midland in Manchester and The Coniston Spa in North Yorkshire won Best Urban Spa and Best Country Retreat Spa respectively.

Stobo Castle Health Spa in Peebleshire, Scotland, took home Best Destination Spa, while The Spa at Ramside, County Durham was awarded Best for Wellness. The Mere Golf Resort and Spa, Cheshire, was named Best Health Club Spa, and The Spa Hotel at Ribby Hall Village, Lancashire, was crowned Best Day Spa.

Daphne Metland, founder and director of the Good Spa Guide, said: "The Good Spa Guide Awards highlight the increasing standards in the spa industry. Our winners are to be congratulated for their high spa standards and great customer service. In a busy hectic world, a trip to a spa has become necessary for many people who want to take care of their health or simply relax and unwind."
