A number of artworks have been placed around Bangkok for its Art Biennale, with pieces tackling issues such as climate change, technology and urbanisation.

Venues in 20 locations around the city are showcasing sculptures, paintings and installations until February 2019 with artistic direction from Apinan Poshyananda, an artist and academic who has has curated numerous international exhibitions, including Beyond Paradise in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai; Floating Chimera in Stockholm; and Heri Dono in Tokyo.

"Visual art is a very powerful medium," said Poshyananda. "The artists who are in the show can reveal their interpretation of Bangkok."

Work on display includes Chumpon Apisuk’s I Have Dreams – a video installation about Thai sex workers – and Fiona Hall’s Forest Floor, a piece about conflict and genocide with painted glass bottles taking the form of human skeletons.

Another standout piece is Lost Dog by French artist Aurèle Ricard, which sits outside a hotel near the Chao Phraya river and is "about our existence, about us now and about the future generation", according to the artist.

The event started on 19 October 2018 and runs until 3 February 2019 across Bangkok and also features work from Marina Abramovic and Andrew Stahl.
