Revealed: First official image of Bjarke Ingels' twisting New York towers for Six Senses hotel

Real estate firm HFZ Capital Group has revealed the first official image of the large-scale condominium and hotel development it is building in New York with Bjarke Ingels Group.

The Eleventh, located along the High Line at 76 11th Avenue in West Chelsea, will be formed of two twisting asymmetrical towers connected via a skybridge. Together, they will feature 236 residences and the first urban property for Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas.

Further details are expected in the next few months, but when the project was first revealed in 2016, HFZ Capital revealed the towers would climb to a total height of 300 and 400ft respectively (91 and 122m) and rotate in a way that “skews traditional skyscraper geometry”.

At that time, Six Senses CEO Neil Jacobs said: “This project is a fascinating and exciting contrast to the typical Six Senses locations where we operate resorts in settings with azure waters, UNESCO heritage listings and lush rainforests.

“Called Six Senses New York, it will have the same touch-points and DNA, with some creative adaptation of course, but with no compromises on our commitment to community, wellness, sustainability and design.”

Two restaurants, a private members club, meeting spaces and a Six Senses spa are planned for the five-star hotel.

HFZ Capital is managing and developing real estate projects with a total value in excess of US$10bn, spanning approximately 10 million sq ft. In addition to Ingels, it has collaborated with architects and designers including David Chipperfield, Isay Weinfeld and Thomas Juul-Hansen.
