Kamalaya takes top honours at WSW awards for the second year running

The World Spa and Wellness Awards were announced last night (25 February) at a gala dinner in London.

Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary & Holistic Spa in Koh Samui, Thailand was named Worldwide Health & Wellness Destination of the Year for the second year in a row.

John Stewart, Kamalaya co-founder and chair, was in London to receive the award, and said he was "surprised an honoured" to be declared the winner twice.

Four Seasons took home top honours for both spa categories in the Middle East and Africa – the Hilltop Spa at Four Seasons Seychelles for resort spa, and the Dahlia Spa at Four Seasons Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island for hotel spa of the year.

Miraval Life in Balance Tucson was named resort spa of the year in North and South America, while Nizuc Spa by ESPA in Cancun won in the hotel spa category.

In Eastern Europe, the Palanga Spa in Lithuania was named hotel spa of the year, and the Hebe Spa at Columbia Beach in Limassol was named resort spa of the year.

The One&Only Spa at Emirates Logan Valley in Australia took top honours in the hotel spa category for Asia and Australasia, while the Aman Spa at Amanoi in Vietnam was named resort spa of the year in the region.

In Western Europe, the Dior Institute was named hotel spa of the year, while Galgorm Resort in Northern Ireland was crowned resort spa of the year.

Penny Hill and Dormy House spas in the UK both took home honours for residential spa of the year. Penny Hill in the category of 11 treatment rooms or more, and Dormy House for 10 treatment rooms or less.

The awards were given out alongside the World Spa and Wellness Conference happening yesterday and today (25-26 February) at Excel Centre in London.
