Polin has teamed up with construction firm Istrakop to open Istralandia Aquapark – Croatia’s first waterpark development.
The €10m (US$13m, £8m) waterpark in Brtonigla, which features a 27m-high (88.6-ft-high) waterslide and 2,500-square-meter (26,910-square-foot) wave pool, uses 90 per cent recycled water taken from local groundwells.
Also included in the 4,500sq m (48,400sq ft) development are a splash boat slide, kids multi-slide, ‘black hole’ enclosed tube slide and a children’s play area featuring a variety of kid-friendly small slides.
The waterpark, which opened earlier in the summer has proved to be a success according to Istrakop owner Branko Kovacic.
“The park has been a big hit,” said Kovacic speaking to
AM2. “By the end of this season we will start designing a programme to further expand the facilities at the water park. With the success we’ve had so far, there’s no stopping the project and it is likely that we will continue to expand over the next few years into the space we have available.
Aside from water-based activities, the park also offers visitors facilities for badminton and volleyball. The current season runs until September 15, though the park is confident that should the good weather continue, that date may be extended.
