The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland's (RZSS) zoological genetics unit Wildgenes has won a scientific prize for its Scottish wildcat research concept.
The unit was given second prize at the Scottish Illumina Sequencing Competition, organised by genomics research company, Illumina.
As a result of their win, Wildgenes received £5,000 worth of free genetic sequencing from Illumina.
Dr Rob Ogden, senior scientist of Wildgenes said: "Receiving this award from will enable us, and our collaborators at the National Museum of Scotland and the University of Chester, to pursue with larger research efforts."
