Irish tourism, culture and sport minister Mary Hanafin has helped launch Fáilte Ireland's new
Food in Tourism framework.
The new national strategy is designed to capitalise on a growing trend of visitors seeking culinary experiences as part of their holiday.
According to research, approximately €2 (£1.72) out of every €5 (£4.30) spent by tourists in Ireland goes towards food and drink.
Hanafin said: "Eating out is an integral part of the tourism experience."
An industry-led working group - featuring chefs such as Catherine Fulvio and Darina Allen - have helped to deliver the new framework.
