The Tate Modern in London will be installing slides inside the Turbine Hall, for an exhibition by Belgian artist Carsten Höller.
German slide manufacturer Wiegand will be building the five stainless steel slides – the tallest of which standing at 26.5m (87ft) – for the installation, which members of the public will be able to ride.
The slides will have see-through Makrolon covers, so that people will be able to look out as they descend.
The movement of the people within in the slides will “bring Höller’s design to life”.
The exhibition will run from 11 October to April next year.
