Camelot Theme Park in Chorley, Lancashire, UK is to be demolished and replaced with a mixed-use development featuring an indoor aqua park.
The theme park will be phased out over the next five years by owner Prime Resorts owing to falling visitor numbers, which have halved over the last decade.
The new project – which is subject to planning approval by Chorley Council – will comprise a health and fitness club, a pub and a 100-bedroom extension to the current Park Hall Hotel in addition to the aqua park.
The scheme will also include 1,000 new houses, a village hall and a school built around the leisure complex. Completion will take up to 20 years.
