A selection of landmark buildings in York will be lit up after dark as part of a new strategy to enhance and promote historic properties around the city to visitors via artists’ commissions and illumination schemes.
Called Renaissance: Illuminating York, the strategy began at the end of October and will be completed by summer 2006, creating a year-round spectacle in the city centre after sundown.
The illuminations began with buildings including the 14th century Guildhall, York’s Art Gallery and Georgian Fairfax House. Details: www.york-tourism.co.uk
