Pulse completes trio of refurbishment projects
POSTED 07 Jun 2017 . BY Deven Pamben
Pulse will operate the fitness suite at Lough Moss Leisure Centre
Leisure solutions supplier Pulse Group has completed a series of fitness suite refurbishment projects in Northern Ireland and England.

After being awarded a five-year fitness contract in April by Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council in Northern Ireland, the supplier has refurbished, equipped and will now operate a new fitness suite at Lough Moss Leisure Centre.

Pulse Fitness – the equipment arm of Pulse Group – spent £300,000 (US$387,000, €345,100) on bringing the old gym up-to-date.

Pulse Solutions - the business operational solutions division of the group - has installed its Exerp software that allows staff to manage member activity. Tracking software PulseMove has also been installed across all fitness equipment to help with retention and grow membership.

The leisure centre receives approximately 11,000 visitors per month, and has a membership base of 500. Pulse will be looking to double membership to 1,000.

The contract also covers marketing, including a new website and social media for the centre, as well as online class booking software.

Chris Johnson, Pulse Group managing director, said: “We hope that providing a varied and innovative mix of equipment, and cutting-edge technology will help to attract more people from the local community to come and get fit.”

The group has completed two refurbishment projects at Dronfield Sports Centre and Eckington Swimming Pool, as part of its contract with North East Derbyshire District Council in England.

The refurbishment at Dronfield involved £385,000 (US$497,000, €443,000) investment by the district council, with Pulse Design and Build – the dedicated construction division of the Pulse Group – responsible for installing a mezzanine floor in the gym, increasing the size of the fitness suite, as well as creating a group exercise studio.

The facility boasts Pulse Series 2 cardio equipment, as well as strength kit and free-weights.

At Eckington Swimming Pool, new changing rooms and a reception area have been created as part of a £1.4million (US$1.8m, €1.6m) refurbishment. The gym area now includes a mezzanine floor. The fitness suite has been kitted out with Series 2 cardio equipment, strength kit and free-weights.

As part of the development, a café has been built which features a ‘Gym Bar’, offering customers a wide range of post-workout protein shakes. A Play Kingdom for youngsters has also been created.
