A development that has been drawing tourists from all over the world due to its connection with
The Walking Dead has been listed for US$680,000 (€608,000, £442,000) on eBay, amid hopes a commercial buyer could capitalise and breathe new life into the community.
Nine buildings in the downtown area of Grantville, Georgia, have been included in the listing, all of which featured in season three of the popular AMC drama about the undead.
The properties cover 25,000sq ft (2,300sq m) and include commercial spaces, apartments and restaurants. Suggestions have been made that a buyer could turn the development into a
Walking Dead-themed visitor attraction, though what that would encompass has not been made clear.
The town’s former mayor and current owner of the land, Jim Sells, runs a
Walking Dead tour, charging US$10 (€8.95, £6.50) per person for undead tourists to get a look at the location.
“Our main industry right now is
Walking Dead tourists,” said Sells. “We have people coming from all over the world because of
The Walking Dead, that's paying the bills downtown.”
According to
the eBay listing, three movies have been signed up to film on location with two “very well-known” actors said to be starring in those films. The listing currently has more than 1,400 watchers with 22 days to go till it expires.
