The spa concept was developed by consultant Kirsty MacCormick
Woodlands, lakes, fog, rain, fresh air and wood fires will be celebrated
A spa garden with hot tubs, vitality pool and Finnish sauna creates a woodland bathing experience
The new Holte Spa has opened at the historic Swan Hotel & Spa in England's Lake District as part of a multi-million-pound investment in the property. The hotel sits on the banks of the River Leven, two miles from Lake Windermere.

The 8,000sq ft destination spa has six treatment rooms, along with a spa boutique and SOLE Cafe (sustainable, organic, local, ethical) which serves light healthy dishes, while produce from the hotel’s kitchen garden will be available at the new deli.

Bringing the outdoors in, Holte Spa has been designed to offer a multi-sensory wellness journey, blending modern spa treatments with authentic bathing traditions that connect guests with some of the core natural elements of the Lake District – woodlands and lakes, fog and rain, fresh air and wood fires.

Kirsty MacCormick of The Spa Consultancy helped bring the wellness facility to life. Her vision was to pay respect to the natural beauty of the destination’s surroundings.

MacCormick says the concept draws inspiration from the wild, with an emphasis on natural materials, holistic treatments and sustainable practices.

A new spa garden with an outdoor/indoor chemical-free vitality pool and outdoor hot tubs provides a woodland bathing experience, while waterfall showers, a Finnish sauna and a relaxation cabin with a fireplace complete the mix.

The garden has a thermal circuit consisting of three bathing options depending on the desired wellness objectives – gentle, refreshing or intense.

Indoors, guests have access to a sauna, steamroom, experience showers and a vitality pool. Soothing relaxation spaces are also available, both indoors and in the spa garden.

MacCormick worked with suppliers Unique Pools, Finnmark, Anapos, REM and Gharieni to bring the new spa to life, she also created a spa menu offering rituals, in partnership with a number of sustainable brands, including Ground wellbeing, Comfort Zone and CBD brand, OTO.

MacCormick said: “The range of treatments and services from our spa partners, along with the authentic bathing journeys in the spa garden make for a unique offering in the UK. The Holte Spa will provide our guests with fantastic results”.

Treatment highlights include a Bamboo Massage, Redwood Foot Reflexology ritual, sound therapy and CBD massage therapy.
