LIW 2015 to focus on tackling physical inactivity through educational programme
POSTED 05 Jun 2015 . BY Jak Phillips
In addition to the usual trade show, organisers are promising a comprehensive educational programme for LIW 2015
The new-look Leisure Industry Week (LIW) will aim to play a facilitating role in the fight against the UK’s physical inactivity crisis by focusing large proportions of its educational programme on innovative ideas to get Britons off the couch.

BodyPower Holdings – the company which produces popular health and fitness consumer show BodyPower Expo – recently finalised a deal to acquire the longstanding industry event from United Business Media (UBM) for an undisclosed fee. The new owners are eager to bring fresh ideas to LIW and chief executive Nick Orton believes delivering engaging content is key to fostering solutions to inactivity.

“For me, I’m passionate about inspiring people to live fitter, healthier lives,” said Orton. “Being a trade show, LIW is all about inspiring the workforce, delivering innovative ideas and modern concepts that will ultimately help an entire team – from a chief executive through to a personal trainer – to understand the role they can play in changing the landscape of activity, wellness, fitness and health in the UK.”

Supported by prominent industry organisations such as ukactive and Leisure Media, LIW 2015 will run from 22 to 23 September 2015 at the NEC in Birmingham. In addition to the usual trade show, organisers are promising an educational programme that tackles everything from industry future-proofing and increasing participation, through to new ways of attracting members.

Keynote speakers will include a range of top level industry experts, while the event will also offer panel discussions, Q&A sessions and seminars.
