| The 80,000sq m ski resort will open in 2025 / 10 Design |

Huafa Snow World, a 131-hectare sport and entertainment destination in Shenzhen, China, designed by architecture firm, 10 Design is slated to open in 2025.
The development is anchored by a 80,000sq m indoor ski resort, currently expected to be the largest of its kind in the world when it opens.
Huafa Snow World will have a balance of retail, entertainment, commercial, hospitality, civic and cultural elements with the aim of creating a new and vibrant destination. The development will also include a JW Marriott Hotel with a range of facilities, including a ballroom with panoramic views of the ski slope. The design will revolve around the theme of snow, with ceramic boards and aluminium panels representing glaciers and ice crystals.
Chin Yong Ng, design principal at 10 Design said: “Our vision for the project is to deliver a fully immersive experience, servicing not only tourists, but also local residents. The planning and design for this cultural epicentre reimagines retail development as a multi-faceted community experience, inviting discovery and encouraging guests to explore.”
10 Design designed an airy, undulating structure to house the 83-metre-high, 441-metre-long ski slope, with the supporting structure exposed to create a feature within the Funmix Zone below.
“Rather than creating one imposing structure, we’ve broken down the building into a series of interlinked floating boxes to invite a sense of exploration within the dynamic mix of experiential retail, entertainment and space in the Funmix zone,” said design principal, Lukasz Wawrzenczyk, “It will also serve as an intriguing gateway to the ski centre.”
10 Design is part of Egis Group and has recently merged with SB Architects. The company will trade a SB 10 in the US.
